Project overview
About the Project
Lake Mariner Data, TeraWulf’s state-of-the-art data center campus on the shores of Lake Ontario, exemplifies the Company’s experience in repurposing legacy industrial sites into next generation, sustainable digital infrastructure.
Upon full buildout, Lake Mariner is projected to support up to 750 MW of power demand, leveraging the existing power infrastructure to enable advanced, energy-intensive computing applications.
Project Highlights
-
Upon full buildout, Lake Mariner is projected to support up to 750 MW of power demand, leveraging the existing power infrastructure to enable advanced, energy-intensive computing applications.
-
Located in Western NY, where ~90% of grid electricity is zero-carbon and substantial surplus power is available.
-
Since the reopening of the site, Lake Mariner Data has generated 73+ full-time positions, 20% of which are rehired and retrained employees from the former coal plant operations.
The site has also generated hundreds of contracted trade positions. See letters of support from those building our community’s future.

-
Designed for long-term (10+ years) hosting agreements with leading global technology companies.
Responsible Development
-
Although the site retains a legacy water intake from its coal plant days, the new data campus does not draw from the lake for cooling - it uses a closed-loop system requiring only a few gallons of utility water daily.
-
The facility uses advanced cooling technology, engineered for quiet operation, resulting in little to no audible impact beyond the site boundary and meeting all local noise requirements.
-
Lake Mariner uses a sustainable design approach that includes LED lighting and demand response participation, helping optimize energy use and support a resilient local power grid.
-
Converts a long-idle industrial property into productive use, aligning with state clean energy and economic development goals while avoiding new land disturbance.
-
As part of the site’s transformation, TeraWulf demolished the former power plant stack, a visible step toward retiring legacy infrastructure and fully transitioning the property to a modern, zero-combustion operation.
